About the app
School Search Guard applies local page rules on supported Google Search pages. In this Stage 1 release, it can hide the AI Mode entry point and “People also ask” sections, and redirect direct AI Mode routes back to ordinary search results.
Enable the Safari extension
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, then open Apps > Safari > Extensions. On some iOS versions, Safari appears directly in Settings.
- Select School Search Guard and turn it on.
- In its website access settings, allow access to
google.comandwww.google.com. - Return to Safari and reload the Google Search page.
Menu wording can vary by iOS version. The extension supports google.com and www.google.com.
What to expect
Ordinary search results and other page content remain available. Coverage depends on Google's current page layout. Evidence from iPad checks is mixed: on an earlier signed-build check, AI Mode and “People also ask” appeared on the first post-install page, then were absent after reload and on later searches. In the user's later first-search check, none of AI Mode, “People also ask,” or AI Overview appeared. Because that check showed no target surfaces, it does not verify that the extension hid them. First-load behavior remains unverified, and AI Overview hiding has not been verified.
The tested app was version 1.0 (build 1) on an iPad (A16) running iPadOS 27.0.1. Results may differ on other devices, system versions, queries, or Google page layouts.
